A torsion viscometer is a laboratory instrument used to measure the viscosity of fluids: How it works A metal cylinder, or bob, is suspended from a thin torsion wire, and a flywheel with a pointer is attached to the upper end of the wire. They can also be used in other fields, such as food, cosmetics, and pharmacy. Features Torsion viscometers are easy to use and maintain, and can produce repeatable results. They typically have a graduated scale on a disk to show the viscosity measurement. Examples The Gallenkamp and Anderen Torsion Viscometers are two examples of torsion viscometers. The Gallenkamp type is made with an aluminum base, three leveling points, and an adjustable sample cup support. The Anderen type is designed for use in the environments of ceramic slip and glaze production.
